Harriet Tubman carried a pistol during her Underground Railroad days.  According to legend, she used it not only for self defense, but also to threaten hesitant, enslaved fugitives she escorted north.  When they tired or wanted to turn back, she grabbed her pistol and said, "You'll be free, or die!"  

 

Harriet Tubman might have come to Germantown once or twice as one her stops for the Underground Railroad, so we wanted to brew a beer in honor of her.  We brewed this German Pilsner with a simple grain bill and hop addition, extracting all the flavor from the traditional German brewing techniques for this style.  After lagering for a month, this pilsner is bright, clean, and crisp with some hoppy bitterness and earthy aroma.
