“Odyssey Lab - A whole nu type of jazz coming from Philly lead by saxophonist and composer Mike LaBombard.

Odyssey Lab is the musical culmination of a lifetime exploring many different genres with as many different musicians as possible. In a time when genre defiance is itself a genre this truly is breaking new ground.  Coming from a ‘street’ education of showing up to jam sessions, bar gigs, etc. Mike was constantly hungry for more musical ideas and soaked up as much as possible.  Time at home during the pandemic lended itself perfectly to wringing out that sponge in the form of a brand new music combining elements of jazz, funk, dance and frequently all sitting in a bed of reggae.

The freshman effort from Odyssey Lab features some of the finest musicians Mike has had the great opportunity to work with in Philly as well as on tour in previous projects.  The roster includes Dan Kaplowitz on guitar, Arjun Dube on drum kit, Logan Roth on keyboards and synthesizers, and Erik Kramer on bass.  A long time musical hero of Mike’s, Alan Evans - drummer of Soulive, and owner operator of Iron Wax Studios and PlayOn Brother - is putting the final touches on this record doing the mixing and mastering.  “
